IT WAS a bad day for a learner driver who was caught speeding at almost 60km/h over the speed limit in Limerick last week.
According to a post on the An Garda Síochána Limerick Facebook page, local Gardaí clocked a black Renault Clio speeding at 159km/h in a 100 zone.
Not only was the driver a learner, they were accompanied by “absolutely no one” and, as regards insurance, there was “none to be found”. “Result? One very short journey… straight onto a tow truck,” Gardaí said.
A court date for the uninsured learner driver was pending.
Commenters on the post praised Gardaí, with one saying “proper order, take them off our roads”, while others noted that Gardaí “saved the driver’s life”.
