GARDAÍ in Limerick have appealed for witnesses to an alleged assault on a woman in the city centre tonight (Monday July 17).
The assault is alleged to have occurred in the vicinity of Colbert Station on Parnell Street in Limerick City.
According to a reliable source, the woman was found unconscious and taken by ambulance to University Hospital Limerick.
She is believed to have suffered a blow to her head, possibly on impact with the ground, during the alleged incident.
A statement from a spokesman for An Garda Síochána said: “Gardaí are investigating an alleged assault which occurred on Monday evening, 17th July 2023. A woman was taken to University Hospital Limerick for treatment, her injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.”
“A man was arrested in connection with this incident and is currently detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984 at a Garda Station in Limerick,” he added.
